Role Purpose

To lead and coordinate the safe, efficient, and compliant day-to-day operation of the cargo department, ensuring operational performance targets, customer service standards, and regulatory requirements are consistently achieved. The role is responsible for supervising and developing team members, maintaining appropriate staffing levels, promoting a positive safety culture, and ensuring all cargo handling activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable aviation, customs, quarantine, and government regulations.

What you will be doing

  • Provide on the job training to all staff to ensure they are able to undertake their duties effectively, efficiently and safely, and provide direction where necessary.
  • Conduct staff appraisals and plan staff development, and address issues of conduct and capability to team members and the management teams.
  • Engage with management on employee issues.
  • Complete a shift report at the end of each shift.
  • Responsibility for the daily operation of the cargo operation.
  • Demonstrate leadership, decision making and organizational skills necessary to efficiently meet performance requirements.
  • Actions incident reporting requirements and ensure all documentation details are completed accurately.

  • Possess strong computer skills including Cargo systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • High level leadership and supervisory abilities.
  • Apply a detailed knowledge of company policy and procedure.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Security and Dangerous Goods awareness and handling requirements.
