Role Purpose

Deliver high performance standards around all aspects of ramp handling, meeting the requirements of our customers and maintaining health and safety and overall good working practices in accordance with company policies and procedures at all times.

The primary function of the role is to provide leadership, direction and support to ensure safe, efficient and effective Ramp operations at Sydney International Airport. The delivery will be consistent with the expectations of all regulatory bodies and customer airlines' expectations/SLA's, whilst also ensuring adherence to company objectives, policies and procedures.

What you will be doing

  • Provide leadership, direction and support to all staff involved in the delivery of ground handling services, to ensure effective daily operational performance whilst adhering to all safety, security and customer requirements.
  • Regular and ongoing operational, safety and financial reporting and review, to ensure compliance and continual improvement. This will include safety audits through SMART, safety incident investigations and corrective actions through MORSE and data entry and revenue collection through RSMS.
  • Maximise service delivery while constantly managing costs to maximise profitability.
  • Oversee planning and implementation of manpower requirements and ongoing cross-skilling/training needs.
  • Ongoing monitoring of staff performance and attendance, coordinating and conducting probationary and annual performance appraisals.
  • Ensure all safety related incidents are investigated and resolved in a timely manner, including liaising with HR and Risk to ensure appropriate disciplinary and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Building strong airline customer relationships by ensuring that SLA's and standards are maintained and raised by continual improvement.
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships through professional and efficient written and verbal communication with all internal and external stakeholders, customers, colleagues and airport authorities.
  • Attending airline customer, SYD monthly meetings and conducting monthly Ramp, Basement and Duty Manager meetings.
  • Maintain a high standard of presentation, always uphold a strong work ethic and lead by example.
  • Control resource, equipment and ad-hoc cost allocations within budgetary restraints and KPI's.
  • Oversee the recruitment and selection for internal and external vacancies and induction processes.
  • Oversee Workers Compensation to ensure effective claims management.
  • Additional duties or projects as delegated by the Ramp Services Manager

What we are looking for

  • Possess strong computer skills including working knowledge of all Ramp and Baggage systems, including MORSE, RSMS and Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • High level leadership and managerial abilities.
  • Apply a detailed knowledge of company policy and procedure.
  • Interpretation of EBA and understanding of IR legislation.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

  • Hold and maintain valid ASIC.
