Training Manager 

Overview

The Training Manager will drive, monitor and ensure strict training compliance in accordance with company and local legislative requirements. The Training Manager is responsible for managing, designing, developing, coordinating, overseeing, and delivering training programs, along with supporting and encouraging employee development.

Main accountabilities include: 

  • Lead a team of trainers and drive required outcomes to meet business objectives.
  • Deliver and oversee group and individual classroom and on-the-job training, covering a range of technical, operational, and/or management areas related to the business.
  • Conduct/oversee induction training for new employees, emphasising safety and security, OH&S, customer service standards & other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all training documentation is compliant within required timelines, ensuring that staff maintain validity of certification and compliance standards are met.
  • Oversee assessments and ensure productivity and performance criteria are met, including regular operational reporting.
  • Evaluate staff progress, performance & development in conjunction with Trainers and Managers.
  • Formulate/maintain training programs and training manuals/materials (includes Airline Ground Operation Manuals).
  • Liaise with clients about training requirements.
  • Liaise with Customer Airline representatives to ensure delivery of quality service product and attend business related meetings as required.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the workforce, driving OH&S & security awareness & compliance.
  • Complete training audits and training needs analysis to identify training needs/build training programs.
  • Assist in the investigation of accidents, injuries, and near misses to evaluate root causes and recommend corrective action. 
  • Ensure stations operational training is compliant and performing against training metrics in line with Menzies global standards, airline customers, and national and international controlling authorities.
  • Perform other tasks and projects as directed.
  • Travel to regional ports In the WA/NT as requested.

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated experience working in aviation, preferably on the ramp or passenger environment in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a training capacity.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills, both verbal and written including demonstration and facilitation skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong team management, collaboration, and the ability to lead by example.
  • Sound computer and word processing skills to produce or update training manuals; spreadsheets and records.
  • Sound knowledge of airport/airline operations is desirable.
  • Effective coaching and performance management skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and effectively prioritise and manage multiple tasks to meet required deadlines.
  • Strong initiative and proven ability to work under broad guidelines without supervision. 
  • Valid driver's license, ability to obtain required security clearances and ability to obtain a driving authorisation from local airport authority.
  • Must be able to work extended hours on short notice during non-routine operations.
  • Ability to Hold and maintain valid ASIC. 
  • Ability to Hold and maintain a CAT 2 - 4 airside driver's license.
  • Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment is desirable.
  • DG Cat 6 qualification is desirable.
