Overview

Accountable for the operational and financial performance of the entire Menzies Aviation Operation at Oslo Gardermoen Airport, reporting to VP Scandinavia. OSL offers a wide variety of Airport services to a large customer base. Delivery of services ensuring high levels of performance, with special focus on Safety & Security, On Time Performance and Customer Service. Maintain high staff motivation and good customer relations. The role requires a proven manager with a strong operational and business understanding.

Main accountabilities include:

  • Deliver highest quality handling services to customer airlines in accordance with airline contracts, and within the agreed budget level.
  • Ensure Safety and Security procedures according to standards set within the Menzies Health & Safety Policy Manual, and according to international aviation standards.
  • Monitor performance, take action to correct any shortfalls.
  • Maintain high staff motivation.
  • Liaise with airline Station Managers, Airport Operations Management, Handling Agents, Customs, Immigration, and Security Officials, Union Officials, and other airport stakeholders.
  • Provide reports and service delivery indicators as required.
  • Provide leadership to the team and develop their skills.
  • Negotiate contracts with airlines and staff agreements with Union Officials.
  • Ensure the station is compliant with the Company’s QA & QC programmes.
  • Establish and maintain a safe working environment for employees and customers to comply with Company policy and health, safety and security regulation.
  • Promote a culture of safe working within the Company.
  • Any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Substantial management experience in the Aviation sector.
  • Proficient knowledge of the IATA Standard Ground Handling Agreement.
  • Passionate about promoting Safety & Security standards as well as high quality services within the organisation.
  • Strong business acumen with a firm grasp of financial practices.
  • Proven track record on P&L accountability; budget-responsible and driven to achieve results.
  • SLA driven to meet customer expectations by delivering excellence.
  • A strong sense of stakeholder engagement. This includes, but is not limited to: Customer Portfolio, Airport Representatives, Local CM, local third party providers.
  • Ability to develop the management team, provide succession planning and re-engineer business processes as demanded by changes in the business.
  • Ability to drive and deliver improvement plans and the relevant follow up process.
  • Ability to identify productivity efficiency or inefficiency and tailor the operational demand based on the operational dynamics within the station.
  • Adaptability with regards to working with a multi-national workforce, and collaborating well with local working unions.
  • Knowledge of local labour legislation is an advantage.
  • Proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Flexibility around working days and hours.
