The part you’ll play

The position is responsible for all matters relating to the security management and compliance across all Menzies Aviation UK&I businesses. The Menzies Aviation Security Management System (SeMS) is fundamental to the ongoing improvement of security, and the success of the company and so the successful candidate will be required to provide assurances of its full implementation at all levels of the business. Responsible for all employees, business units, airport, cargo, cleaning and other ancillary operations across the region.

  • To maintain and enhance a security culture within all MA businesses within the UK and Ireland.
  • To reduce Security risk exposure and improve security performance.
  • Support the group risk security function with the development of security management strategy, policy and procedure.
  • To ensure the Menzies Aviation regulated business security programs are appropriate, maintained and remain current.
  • To ensure full regulatory compliance and liaison with the UKCAA and other regulatory bodies as appropriate.
  • Implementation and auditing of the relevant security policies and procedures within the business.
  • Responsible for direct line management of the UK&I Security Auditor.
  • Responsible for direct line management of the Cargo CCTV Security team.
  • Responsible for UK section 5 firearms handling.
  • The implementation of a UK Threat Assessor program.
  • To ensure all operations have an effective security contingency and emergency response plan.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, identify areas that present a risk to the business and drive continual improvement in the field of Aviation security.
  • As the Designated Security Manager, receive, interpret and coordinate legislative updates.
  • To provide guidance and advice on MA security policies to all MA business within the UK and Ireland.
  • To liaise closely with operational management to assist in functional security matters.
  • To ensure regulated business security training meets the appropriate state regulatory requirements.
  • To liaise with the training team to ensure that effective training programmes for security are maintained.
  • To support in the security incident, and when required, criminal investigation process and ensure reports are thorough and presented in a timely manner.
  • Maintain and enhance open lines of communication with airline customers at station and regional office levels.
  • Provide timely regional management reports as required.

 What you’ll need to bring:

  • Trained to Level 3 – Aviation Security Manager.
  • Trained to Cargo Security Management level(CM).
  • CTC clearance.
  • Trained as a UKCAA Threat Assessor.
  • Tran-Sec security or enforcement agency background.
  • Experienced in investigative techniques.
  • Practical experience and understanding of the UK/NASP.
  • Experience of aviation cargo and ground handling.
  • Experience in a similar security management position.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels and from different geographical and ethnic cultures.
  • Ability to drive through policies and procedures and represent the Company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Packages e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, flexible attitude to change.
  • Prepared to occasionally work outside of normal business hours and travel frequently, sometimes at short notice, including possible temporary secondment on a support / coaching basis at other locations or overseas.

Working in an Airside role, to follow aviation security requirements, you will be required to hold a full Airside Security Pass. To obtain this we will need 5 years' full referencing history, with a Criminal Record Check.
