Vice President – Group Safety Standards

We are recruiting for a VP – Group Safety Standards to join our team based in Edinburgh or Heathrow. This is an exciting opportunity to take up a senior position in the Group Risk structure and provide strategic leadership for operational and occupational safety across the Group network. Reporting to our SVP – Group Risk, the post holder will be responsible for providing robust and effective Health & Safety support to the business as we strive for Operational Excellence. 

 Your key responsibilities will be: 

  • Planning, developing and facilitating of corporate lead safety programmes.
  • Being a transformational leader in the ongoing development and implementation of companies Safety Management System (SMS), and the transition from a reactive to predictive SMS programme within the Integrated Risk Management Program.
  • Ensuring the company complies with all current health and safety legislation including acts, regulations, ACOP’s, official guidance and standards; and maintaining foresight on current and future changes.
  • Providing H&S support and guidance to our operational teams across all areas of Health and Safety as our de facto expert on operational Safety Matters network wide.
  • Developing metrics to measure performance as we move towards a more predictive risk management model.
  • Maintaining a risk based approach to safety management continually looking to improve the process of hazard identification, risk assessment as part of the risk management programme.
  • Scrutinising all incidents and accident reports to ensure investigations identify the root cause, contributable factors and that corrective measures are challenged and appropriate.
  • Developing high impact H&S awareness programmes to promote the Menzies safety culture.
  • Supporting the future development, selection, procurement and implementation of a fully integrated risk management system to replace today’s legacy systems.

What you will need to bring:

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Aviation operations and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience of managing Health & Safety in a diverse and fast paced operational environment.
  • Experience working in an international and multi-cultural business.
  • Ability to consider the broader elements of implementing policy and procedures and the impact on operations.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge Dangerous Good By Air.
