Role Purpose

The Baggage agent will be responsible to load, unload and handle arrival, transit & departure baggage Support Baggage team to achieve safe, secure and on time flight departure and to ensure baggage delivery as per Agreed SLA's/KPIs.

This job will also entail clearing waste from aircraft seating areas, galleys and toilets. Tidy and replenish seat pocket material. Wipes clean all meal trays, overhead bins and windows. Following all the airline specific procedures.

 

What you will be doing

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per MASIL policy.
  • Handle (Load, unload & transport) baggage as instructed.
  • Assist the Baggage Team Leader or Supervisor in baggage reconciliation to ensure no unaccounted baggage is loaded in the aircraft hold so that flight safety & security is never compromised under any circumstances.
  • Must be able to read the tags of the baggage and should be able to identify the bags based on destination.
  • Report to the point of work as allocated on time.
  • Attend flight handling briefing with Baggage Team Leader.
  • Handle baggage with care to avoid any damage.
  • Do not involve in any kind of unauthorized activities.
  • Should always act as an important member of the team and should contribute to the maximum towards the goal of the team.
  • Carry out baggage damage checks before loading or unloading of baggage. Any bag received in damaged/Open condition, must be reported to Team Leader.
  • Look out for any Dangerous Good sticker on baggage/item and escalate to Baggage Team Leader for necessary follow up action.
  • Do housekeeping of Baggage Hall or Workplace
  • Assist Baggage Driver in transportation of baggage, trolley, ULDs etc.
  • Assist Baggage Team Leader in Baggage reconciliation/ Baggage count
  • Do not load any damaged bag or baggage with any visible leakage.
  • Before loading/ unloading, always check Baggage Tag for flight number, date and destination. Speak to Baggage Team Leader for help and guidance.
  • Attend training as directed.
  • Perform Aircraft loading, unloading, cleaning or cargo handling tasks as directed.
  • Do only those tasks for which you are trained for.
  • If you notice any safety hazard, incident, accident, report to your Team Leader or Supervisor immediately.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education – minimum secondary level.
  • Minimum 6 months' experience within the aviation sector, ideally in airport ground handling
  • Previous airport ground Handling experience and knowledge is preferred.
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in shifts covering 24 x 7.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.
  • Customer and safety focused.
