Role Purpose

The Cargo Warehouse Supervisor is responsible and accountable for their own work and that of others. They are responsible for all the operation of a unit/section under their supervision, ensuring that the delivery of services is consistent, professional, safe and secure.

What you will be doing

  • Duties in addition to include all lower grades.
  • Provide supervision to all employees within their designated department.
  • Ensure that each shift has satisfactory staffing levels to complete each import/export flight within the designated service level agreements.
  • Achieving customer service excellence and ensuring the cargo operation meets customer service standards.
  • Make recommendations on all aspects of the operation, seeking to identify opportunities to improve performance and productivity.
  • Ensuring adherence to airline, customs and quarantine procedures.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of company policies and procedures.
  • Apply detailed understanding of customer airline systems.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of Government regulations.
  • Ensure Occupational Health and Safety and security programs are adhered to.
  • Administer disciplinary action to any staff members who are found to be in breach of company policy.
  • Allocate duties to staff members on shift, considering their mental and physical attributes and position experience.
  • Conduct staff appraisals and plan staff development.
  • Complete a shift report at the end of each shift.
  • Responsibility for the daily operation of the cargo operation
  • Demonstrate leadership, decision making and organizational skills necessary to efficiently meet performance requirements.
  • Actions incident reporting requirements and ensure all documentation details are completed accurately. Ensure all import/export documents are correctly maintained.
  • Perform administrative duties and projects as required, “work down” as directed
  • Ensure that estimates and finals are transmitted on time to carriers' requirements.
  • Complete various documentation such as, aircraft NOTOC, AVI checks and export sheets.
  • Complete Dangerous Goods checks.
  • Coordinate flight build up as per carriers' request.
  • Ensure special commodities are handled as required.
  • Ensure that held shipments are communicated to the builder.
  • Adhere to airline, customs, quarantine and airport requirements and procedures.
  • Complete daily bond check of export racks.
  • Complete various duties with regards to ULDs, including but not limited to updating ‘units out' on ULD out spreadsheet, updating daily tallies of ULD totals, requesting return of ULD's in a timely manner
  • Investigate missing unreported/missing ULD's.
  • Ensure that if discrepancies between airline systems and physical stock are noted and that the carrier is notified and system is reconciled.
  • Accept and process live animals according to airline requirements
  • Assist with cross-check of manifests and preparation of export freight
