Role Purpose

The Department Manager holds personnel responsibility for their team and is accountable for ensuring that the group has the appropriate competencies to perform their tasks. The Department Manager also works proactively, using an operational overview to facilitate optimal resource allocation and efficient traffic handling in collaboration with the Operations (OP) team. 

  • The Department Manager is the personnel-responsible leader with primary responsibility for the follow-up of employees in their group. 
  • The Department Manager contributes to helping Menzies achieve their goals by motivating, correcting, and recognizing employees for their work. 
  • The Department Manager is expected to embody the Menzies culture in line with the Code of Conduct and Menzies Leadership Model. 

 

What you will be doing

  • Responsible for the overall follow-up of employees in their group, including communication of relevant information, ensuring completion of mandatory training, monitoring sickness absence, and addressing operational deviations involving staff. It is essential that all follow-ups are well-documented and that actions are taken swiftly. 
  • Ensure the right competency mix within the team. Responsible for employee qualifications and competence development in line with Menzies and regulatory requirements. The overall competency must support flexible operations and synergies within Menzies. 
  • Responsible for audits from airlines, DAQCP audits, and follow-ups from Avinor. 
  • Responsible for recruiting staff within their area and within budgeted limits. 
  • Ensure that the personnel group is managed in accordance with labor regulations, Norwegian legislation, internal policies, and procedures.

What we are looking for

  • 3–5 years of experience in the logistics industry. 
  • Higher education is preferred; however, relevant leadership experience may compensate for a lack of formal education. 
  • Business- and process-oriented. 
  • Has a positive attitude towards changes and new ideas. 
  • Shows loyalty to Menzies Aviation/Menzies World Cargo's strategy.
