Where teamwork goes further

The Gate Baggage Operative (GBO) would be responsible for ensuring passengers baggage from the gate is transferred efficiently to the ramp team to be loaded onto the aircraft.

  • GBO will report to the Menzies LHG airside supervisor for allocation of flights and meal break.
  • You will be in direct communication with the Airside supervisor via radio or phone.
  • Responsible for checking the boarding gate and stand for HAL supplied cage/trolley availability. The cage may be used to speed up transfer of multiple items.
  • Reporting missing/damaged cages to HAL and the supervisor taking note of the fault reference number.
  • Cage to be positioned ready for use in the lobby behind the exit from the gate area
  • Responsible for ensuring that the gate baggage has been tagged prior to loading into the HAL supplied cage.
  • Baggage removed by the gate team will be loaded by the GBO into the HAL supplied cage in accordance with safe manual handling practices. The cage is taken via a PRM lift located at each gate position on level five to apron level zero.

You’ll carry out aircraft and equipment inspections and hazard checks, reporting any faults and taking care of the paperwork needed to get the job done.   • Excellent communication skills
  • Ideally have previous experience in a manual handling role
  • To be able to work well within a team
  • To be able to work in all weather conditions

Working in an Airside role, to follow aviation security requirements, you will be required to hold a full Airside Security Pass. To obtain this we will need 5 years' full referencing history, with a Criminal Record Check.
