Role Purpose

This position will provide central support to the global business and Menzies in-house legal team by leading and delivering commercial contracting support (customer and supplier contracts), data protection support, ensuring alignment with internal procedures, standards and governance, and working closely with the Head of Legal Operations on prioritisation and ways of working.

 

What you will be doing

  • Lead and support the drafting, review and negotiation of global customer and supplier contracts (and other operational agreements) using approved templates and playbooks, supporting the effective use of contract tools and systems in coordination with the Head of Legal Operations.
  • Support the development and consistent application of standards, policies, procedures and governance for global commercial contracting and data protection, in coordination with the DPO, global legal team and the Head of Legal Operations.
  • Maintain and help improve contract templates, standard clauses and playbooks for consistency across global customer and supplier contracts, including standard data protection, cyber and insurance clauses and positions, in coordination with the global legal team and wider business subject experts.
  • Support accurate contract and data protection record-keeping, including ensuring executed agreements and related documentation are stored appropriately in the relevant repository/systems, in line with agreed ways of working.
  • Identify and escalate to the global team potential legal risks arising from global customer and supplier contracts and data protection matters to support effective decision making and reduce risk exposure for Menzies.
  • Provide reporting and insights on global customer and supplier contracting activity and key risk themes (including data protection), in coordination with the Head of Legal Operations.

What we are looking for:

  • Notable experience in commercial contracts (customer and supplier); commercial property; drafting/review/negotiation support and data protection support in a business-facing role.
  • Previous work within an in-house legal team or legal function is desirable – would suit legal professional with commercial contracts and data protection experience.
  • Fully computer literate with considerable experience using MS Office.
  • Demonstrable self-starter with role model organisational skills.
  • Thrives in team working environment with flexible approach and can-do attitude.
