Overview

This role is responsible for delivering and implementing effective human resource policies and procedures to support our Managers in managing HR and ER issues and programs.  Provide specialized advice to managers in areas of modern award and employment law whilst achieving success in commercial outcomes and efficiencies. Conduct and support meetings and investigations to resolve employee matters.

This is a generalist HR support role that may require travel within the region of Australia and New Zealand.  The role will suit an experienced and dynamic HR professional who enjoys working in a changing and fast paced environment. 

 

Main Accountabilities Include:

  • Provide guidance to Managers in resolving a range of HR issues.
  • Advising on local HR policies and review work practices to reflect current employment legislation.
  • Ensure accurate application by Managers of all policy and work practices relating to HR and Training.
  • Support on reward strategies; other remuneration issues including promotion and benefits and change management.
  • Support Managers in all aspects of the recruitment process, promoting a culture of equality and diversity, developing job descriptions, attending and supporting candidate interviews where applicable, producing offer letters, contracts and completing comprehensive reference checks.
  • Coordinate the Onboarding of new starters including all regulatory training.
  • Ensuring that any employees who exit from the business are managed effectively.
  • Analysis and reporting on HR statistics.
  • Support and drive our Company Culture and provide initiatives or action that may enhance our Employee Value Proposition.
  • Provide assistance and backup to the Payroll Department as required for fortnightly payroll of employees with accurate details of any pay changes within specified timed deadlines.
  • In consultation with the Risk and Compliance Officer and Managers provide assistance and support in all Internal and Legislative Audits.
  • Build constructive relationships with all employees, customers and colleagues.
  • Maintain Training Records and Matrix to ensure all employees qualifications and licenses are current and valid for their position.
  • Management of the HR database to ensure data integrity for the region.
  • Ensure all HR and Training related files, documents are valid, accurate and maintained in a secure manner.
  • Support any employee relations issues including grievance and disciplinary.
  • Management of sickness absence.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in HR or Industrial Relations.
  • Knowledge in employment, workplace health and safety legislation and ability to act on its practical application and in employment law situations as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Excellent levels of literacy, numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Previous experience of dealing with core HR issues such as disciplinary and grievances, sickness absence, staff development and management.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative to deadlines.
  • Good personal presentation and professional manner at all times.
  • Car and valid car license plus a valid passport is essential.
  • Clear police and background checks essential.
  • Minimum 3 years working in a similar position.
  • Experience working across a multiple remote office/warehouse network.
  • Experience working in the freight forwarding or similar industry may be beneficial.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and time management
