Role Purpose

As part of a team of technicians led by the workshop supervisor or senior technician, perform all scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, fault finding, and repair on all MASIL-maintained GSE and vehicles at Baghdad International Airport.

Main accountabilities include:

  •  Diagnose and repair various electrical and electronic systems in equipment and vehicles in line with OEM schematics.
  • Regular inspection of various automotive components, such as engines, cooling systems, transmissions, axles, steering systems, hydraulic systems, air conditioning systems, batteries, and tires, as well as the vehicle's electrical system, and troubleshooting of the same using OEM manuals.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of GSE and equipment safely as per set standards and checklists.
  • Perform care tasks every day, like checking fluid levels, rotating tires, and changing oil fluids as appropriate.
  • Ensure that the breakdown reported at different locations is attended to as quickly as the call is received or within a reasonable time frame to ensure any aircraft delay due to the breakdown of a GSE is either eliminated or minimized.
  • Identify the required spares with the help of the OEM manual and inform the supervisor to place a request.
  • During planned and unplanned maintenance, identify any potential, existing, or recurrent faults or failures and highlight the same to supervisors to initiate corrective measures.
  • Ensure to maintain good housekeeping in the workshop and other work areas and take proper care of tools.
  • Producing legible and correct paperwork that accurately reflects the task done and parts or materials consumed.
  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Carry out a test drive on the vehicle to ensure that it has been properly repaired and is safe for operation.
  • Operate a range of workshop tools and machinery required for the task and perform minor welding and body repairs as required.
  • Ensure that standard operating procedures (SOP and WI) are followed, and safety precautions are taken during maintenance activities to prevent any personal injury or equipment damage.
  • Operate and maintain the potable water plant and vehicles as per set standards.
  • Clean and wash the equipment, vehicles, and facilities.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Trade certificate, diploma or degree in electrical or automobile engineering from a reputed institution.
  • 2+ years of experience in the maintenance of ground support equipment, heavy vehicles in the aviation industry, or heavy construction equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of electrical, automotive, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems
  • Must possess a valid local driving license and be capable of obtaining an airport driving permit (ADP) and other equipment endorsements.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings (electrical and hydraulic schematics)
  • Must be flexible and willing to work in different shifts to cover the operations 24/7.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, flexible attitude to change.
  • Ability to speak, read and writing English is a must.

  • Work at a height greater than 1 meter.
