The part you'll play

We are looking for a Technician who can diagnose and repair simple and complex automotive issues, perform routine maintenance tasks for our Ground Handling vehicles and batching plants.

  • Carry out general maintenance and mechanical repair of vehicles and equipment.
  • Responsible for maintenance and accident repair work on both light and heavy vehicles.
  • Liaise with 3rd party contractors in the day-to-day maintenance and emergency repairs of vehicles and equipment.
  • Arrange regulatory and safety inspections (CAP642/MOT/LOLER) for vehicles and equipment.
  • Monitor maintenance schedules and keep vehicle/equipment records up-to-date.
  • Respond to emergency call-outs when required.
  • Carry out annual calibration and inspection of deicing equipment (vehicles and batching plants) prior to the start of each winter season.
  • Procure spares, repair kits and contractor services using in-house PO system.
  • Liaise with the Station Manager to keep them informed and updated of issues relating to vehicle/plant maintenance and out-of-hours maintenance cover and support particularly during the winter season.
  • From time to time, provide technical support to the Maintenance Manager with the installation/maintenance requirements at other MA stations either as part of an in-house project or where 3rd party contractors are engaged to support a project.

What you'll need to bring:

  • Must hold a full UK Driving licence.
  • Essential knowledge in car repairs and commercial vehicles in the workshop and on site.
  • Welding, fabrication and painting skills would be an advantage.
  • Show commitment and prioritise tasks independently.
  • Be able to communicate and interact with members of staff and third parties.
  • 3+ years' experience performing automotive service.
  • GCSEs or equivalent required (HNC or above preferred).
  • Work with operators to understand their concerns and properly diagnose the issue.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and a friendly disposition.
  • Have the ability to work on their own and as part of a wider team.
  • Use initiative to solve problems within a time sensitive working environment.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and alert customers to issues that will prevent their vehicles from passing inspection.

Working in an Airside role, to follow aviation security requirements, you will be required to hold a full Airside Security Pass. To obtain this we will need 5 years' full referencing history, with a Criminal Record Check.
