The Operations Manager is responsible for the business interests and day-to-day operational performance of the Operations department at the airport.

  • Responsible for day-to-day operational performance, safety, security, and customer satisfaction of the product through effective support and management of delivery areas.
  • Ensuring safety and security procedures are according to standards set within the Menzies Health & Safety Manual, Security manual and according to international aviation standards.
  • Promote an open reporting culture.
  • Ensure staff punctuality and hours approval in Kronos.
  • Ensuring investigations take place into any incident/accident, non-conformity, or service delivery failure, with resulting corrective actions being established and then maintained.
  • Ensure all staff wear PPE and the Menzies Uniform policy is followed.
  • Plan, develop and implement strategy for staff training and development, oversee appropriate systems for measuring necessary aspects of staff training and development.
  • Stay informed as to the relevant skills and qualification levels required by staff for effective performance.
  • Monitoring performance of key customer service indicators, identify gaps, plan and resource effectively to fill them, including contingency planning.
  • Accountable for ongoing day to day management to an approved business plan.
    • Ensuring that operational manuals and relevant documents are up to date and are accordingly distributing among the staff.
    • Improving delivery of Menzies Aviation products and services through developing a motivated and skilled team.
    • Support Health & Safety Committee by ensuring briefing and safety checks are completed.
    • Suggest, elaborate and document LOPs when considered necessary. Take part of the conf call.
    • Provides report incident and accident in MORSE.
    • Provides reports as required to Airport Operations Manager / Station Manager.
    • Provides leadership to the operations team, developing their skills.
    • Work shifts as required by the business.
    • Ensuring the department follows a consistent Human Resources process, with the relevant company policies being always delivered.
    • Work with airport suppliers & handlers to ensure prescribed levels of service at agreed standards are delivered.
    • Create and maintain accurate staff database.
    • Responsible for planning and rostering the correct amount of manpower to over the NCE OPS operation, while complying with the budget provided by the Station Manager as well as meeting the Customer SLA requirements and complying with the CLA and national/regional regulations.

Candidate requirements

  • Experience in ground handling management and operations
  • French and English speaking
  • Knowledge of GSE
  • Able to communicate effectively with senior level personnel.
  • Conversant with international airline ground handling procedures, international aviation safety and security procedures, and Menzies ground handling, safety and security procedures
  • Aptitude to develop the departmental management team, succession planning and re-engineer business processes as demanded by changes in the business.

  • Functional Knowledge: expertise in operations environment.
  • Business Expertise: experience in ground handling and resource planning.
  • Leadership: Proven leadership in previous positions.
  • Problem Solving: Be able to solve operational issues and airlines requests.
  • Nature of impact: Cost cutting, ensuring satisfied customers as well as contented employees.
  • Area of Impact: Operational, financial, industrial relations, safety, and training.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Communication skills both with regards to the labor force as well as senior management.
