Reporting to the Ramp Operations Manager, the job is responsible for the business interests and day-to-day shift operational performance of the Ramp at the LHR Airport. The role requires a strong leader with proven managerial skills.

                         

Main accountabilities include:  

  • Responsible for assisting the Ramp Operation Managers in the day-to-day operational performance, safety, security and customer satisfaction of the product through effective support and management of the team.
  • Ensuring safety and security procedures are according to standards set within the Menzies Health & Safety Policy Manual, and according to international aviation standards.
  • Promote and actively encourage just culture and ensure the accurate reporting of all accidents and incidents incurred whilst on shift, and entered into MORSE and ensure closure in a timely manner.
  • Oversee and ensure an effective communication system is in place to notify relevant staff of required information.
  • Ensure there is a robust equipment defect reporting system in place. Proveo daily checks and daily TCR status updates.
  • Check and monitor daily vehicle checks.
  • Ensure that all staff fully understand that safety is the number one priority for the company.
  • Liaise with the H&S team, create and sustain a safe working environment and culture. Ensure all staff comply with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and revisions and accurate reporting of all accidents and incidents incurred whilst on duty via MORSE.
  • Liaise with the Training department. Ensure that all staff are fully trained in line with our Airline operating procedures, Menzies AGOM and comply with directives set by both DFT and CAA.
  • Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times.
  • Ensure uniform standards are maintained at all times.
  • Ensure that all staff are fully updated and informed of all operational issues, company updates and station operational notices.
  • Manage any day-to-day operational incidents – disruption management.
  • Ensure that housekeeping is maintained in all areas, including vehicles FOD check, defecting etc.
  • Ensure that SMART Audits are performed (daily/weekly) have been completed and that staff have been briefed on all failures and all necessary actions (CARs) have been completed.
  • Ensure a positive and clean working environment is upheld.
  • Any other reasonable request and duties.
  • Orientates the Ramp around company values (S.P.I.R.I.T) and put them into practice.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Substantial operational management/supervisory experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of aviation services, in particular ramp handling operations.
  • Ability to communicate successfully at all levels, whilst leading and motivating a growing workforce.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong communications skills and experience in liaising with senior airline, airport, and other stakeholder personnel.
  • Good knowledge of GSE.
  • Aptitude to develop the departmental management team, succession planning, and re-engineer business processes as demanded by changes in the business.
  • Developed communication and diplomacy skills used to direct/persuade/influence others.
