The part you’ll play

Reporting to the T2/T3 Ramp Manager LHR; managing and leading on a daily basis the ramp operations, proactively maintaining staffing levels to budget, to meet customer service levels. The role requires a strong leader with proven managerial skills. 

  • Safety & Security being the primary consideration manage the day to day operational performance within budget; meeting customer service levels and airport expectations through effective use of all resources, keeping the department head up to date with events likely to affect this.
  • Being seen to promote company values (S.P.I.R.I.T) on the ramp and in practice.
  • Plan and manage the operation in terms of staff levels, staff allocation and best working practices. Acting as a point of contact for HAL, 3rd parties, customers and other company departments to continually improve our standing in the scorecard, aiming for the number one position.
  • Engage with the H&S team to sustain a safe working environment and culture; challenging staff to be compliant with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and its revisions, as well as the Menzies Health & Safety Policies through accurate reporting via MORSE of all accidents and incidents.
  • Reply to flight deviations in a timely manner having first liaised with all involved departments.
  • Provide oversight of communications that notify staff of all information bulletins released by Menzies Aviation, our customers and the authorities. Carry out shift briefings in the AM and PM to ensure staff are fully updated and notified of operational issues, Company updates and station operational notices.
  • Ensure the ADM’s are briefed, each shift to cover a particular zone and that they proactively encourage and oversee staff in their zone in accordance with their job description.
  • Comprehensively complete the daily shift report, making sure all events of significance are captured.
  • Monitor and drive ADP and OTP, utilising RSMS, MERLIN & ACDM.
  • Liaise with the Training Department to ensure a plan exists such that all staff on shift are trained to meet the demands of the schedule. Monitor the training plan and challenge where skills are below the minimum requirement.
  • Represent the Company in a professional manner at all times. Dressed appropriately in accordance with the Handbook (DM’s and below, must be in uniform).
  • Use the Company Investigation and Disciplinary Policies to maintain staff discipline
  • Instruct ADM’s to use the Company Investigation and Disciplinary Polices where appropriate. 
  • Manage ADM holiday authorisation, authorise staff overtime on a daily basis, within the agreed budget.
  • Oversee any day to day operational incidents including disruption management, communicating these to the department head.
  • Ensure SMART Audits are performed (daily) and staff have been briefed on all failures and all necessary actions (CARs) have been completed.
  • Any other reasonable request and duties. 

What you’ll need to bring:

  • Substantial operational management/supervisory experience.
  • Experience and knowledge of aviation services, in particular ramp handling operations.
  • Ability to communicate successfully at all levels, whilst leading and motivating a growing workforce.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills.
  • Strong communications skills and experience in liaising with senior airline, airport, and other stakeholder personnel.
  • Good knowledge of GSE.
  • Aptitude to develop the departmental management team, succession planning and re-engineer business processes as demanded by changes in the business.
  • Developed communication and diplomacy skills used to direct/persuade/influence others.

Working in an Airside role, to follow aviation security requirements, you will be required to hold a full Airside Security Pass. To obtain this we will need 5 years' full referencing history, with a Criminal Record Check.
