Ramp Manager (Head of Department)
Lead the way. Drive performance. Shape the future.
At Menzies Copenhagen, we are looking for a leader who enjoys building teams, leading change, improving operations and making a real impact.
As Ramp Manager, you will be responsible for the largest departments at Copenhagen Airport, leading an operation of around 200 employees through a team of Team Managers and Duty Managers.
This is a role where leadership, operational excellence and people development go hand in hand. You will spend time in the operation, with our employees, customers and stakeholders, while also helping shape the future of one of Denmark's busiest ground handling operations.
No two days are the same, and that is exactly what makes this role exciting.
What your responsibilities will be
Lead the way
Your most important responsibility is developing people and setting the direction.
You will coach and develop your Team Managers and Duty Managers, creating a culture built on trust, accountability and collaboration. You will be a visible leader who supports your team, challenges where needed and creates an environment where people can perform at their best.
Deliver a safe and reliable operation
You will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient and on-time operational performance across our Ramp and Baggage Hall operation.
Working closely with our Planning department, other departments and our airline customers, you will ensure operational excellence, with safety and customer satisfaction being the heart of everything we do.
Improve the way we work
You are motivated by being accountable for improving organizations
You will identify opportunities to streamline and simplify processes, implement guidelines and ways of working, improve productivity and strengthen cooperation across departments. You will use data, operational insights and feedback from employees to proactively drive continuous improvement rather than simply reacting to today's challenges.
Build relationships
Success in this role is built on relationships.
You will work closely with employees, airline customers, unions, employee representatives and the wider Leadership Team to build trust, lead change and create a positive working environment.
Deliver results
You will be responsible for departmental performance, including safety, operational KPIs, customer satisfaction, productivity and budget.
You will ensure delivery of high-quality service while managing resources responsibly and continuously looking for smarter ways of working.
Who we are looking for
First and foremost, we are looking for a leader with experience from aviation or another complex operational environment is certainly an advantage, yet above all we are looking for someone who is experienced in leading people, managing change, creating structure and delivering results through others.
Therefore, you are someone who:
What will be your success criteria for this role
Success will not be measured by how many aircraft you personally turn around.
It will be measured by the way you develop the department, the culture you build, the trust you create with employees and customers, and whether the operation performs safely, consistently and on time because your teams know what good looks like.
If your people succeed, the operation succeeds. And if the operation succeeds, you've done your job.
Who your leader will be
You will report directly to Jens, General Manager Denmark, and become part of the Danish Leadership Team.
Jens is a leader that believes in giving people responsibility, trusting them to make decisions and supporting them when they need it. Jens does not expect perfection, but he does expect ownership, visibility and a willingness to keep improving.
If you're looking for a role where you can genuinely influence the direction of a department, challenge existing ways of working and develop both people and performance, you will no doubt get that opportunity with us.
