Role Purpose

The Ramp Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, and profitable management of all ramp and ground handling operations. The role provides leadership to operational teams, ensuring compliance with safety, security, quality, and customer service standards while delivering exceptional airline service outcomes. The Ramp Manager works collaboratively with customers, airport authorities, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders to achieve operational excellence, employee engagement, and financial performance objectives.

What you will be doing

  • Oversee the safe, efficient and on-time delivery of all ramp and ground handling services, ensuring operational excellence across the Melbourne operation.
  • Ensure compliance with CASA regulations, airport requirements, workplace health and safety obligations, and company policies while fostering a strong safety culture.
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing workforce through workforce planning, recruitment, training, performance management and employee engagement initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with airline customers, airport authorities, contractors and key stakeholders to consistently achieve service level agreements and customer expectations.
  • Monitor operational KPIs, control labour and equipment costs, manage budgets, drive continuous improvement, and ensure profitability targets are achieved

What we are looking for

  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing large operational teams in a fast-paced aviation, logistics, or operational environment.
  • Strong understanding of airport ramp operations, aviation safety, regulatory compliance, and operational best practice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across customers, employees, and key partners.
  • Demonstrated experience in workforce planning, performance management, employee engagement, and continuous team development.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to drive operational performance, manage budgets, and deliver customer-focused outcomes.
