Role Purpose

Level 3 classified employees are responsible for their own work, are able to understand detailed instructions and work from established procedures with limited supervision.

What you will be doing

  • Perform water samples in all aspects of potable water.
  • Perform basic serviceability and maintenance checks of vehicles and/or equipment including refuelling of vehicles.
  • Use basic knowledge of keyboard and function keys to enter and retrieve data through computer terminal/personal computer and operate printing devices. 
  • Perform duties which centre on ‘hands on' activities in all areas including that which is directly and indirectly associated with aircraft handling and/or freight shed.
  • Adherence to Menzies Aviation Ground Operating Manual.

Other Ramp duties:

  • Operate all ground handling and commercial type airport equipment including all equipment associated with ramp (i.e. tow tug, belt loaders), freight/cargo, aircraft servicing, transporting operations, water servicing but excluding high lift, lower/main deck loaders and push back equipment.
  • Perform duties which centre on ‘hands on' activities in areas which are directly and indirectly associated with aircraft handling.
  • Proficient in all types of load plans with relation to loading and unloading aircrafts.
  • Carry out established procedures ensuring baggage/freight is handled correctly including the loading and unloading from ULD's and vehicles.
  • Open aircraft hold doors.
  • Perform refuelling task and knowing refuelling SOP's
  • Precision loading – a full understanding of airline SLA's and SOP's.
  • AAA scanning.
  • Place cones and chock aircraft.
  • Collect rough from check in counters
  • Using held hand scanner.
  • Correctly load bags into containers.
  • Drive bags to and from aircrafts and inbound bags.
  • Check serviceability of ULD's and Equipment – Tag and report Unserviceable equipment as required.
  • Maintain a clean working environment i.e. tubs, FOD, muster room.
  • Report any scanning issues to Leading Hand and/or Supervisors.
  • Knowing arrival and departure times.
  • Correct loading and handling of firearms in and outbound flights.
  • IATA 3 letter port code and 2 digit airline abbreviations.
  • Correct procedure of unloading the DIP locker.
  • Knowing the correct location for delivery of the Dip mail/company mail.
  • Inbound bags Delivery sequence for all Airlines/deliver of oversize items.
  • Identifying inbound carousel, delivering bags up the right carousel.
  • Identifying transship bags, delivering items as required in tubs – special car

What we are looking for

  • Hold Cat 2 ADA license.
  • Knowledge of sectional operating procedures, requirements and systems.
  • Dangerous goods awareness and handling requirements.
  • Security Awareness.
  • Ability to work a 7 day rotating roster without restrictions.
