Lead and supervise a team of ramp operators in loading and unloading of baggage and/or cargo transiting, arriving and departing on commercial aircraft at Baghdad airport.  Deliver excellence in performance and enforcing overall good working practices throughout your shift in accordance to company policies and procedures at all times.  This role includes operating aircraft Ground Service Equipment (GSE) for aircraft turn rounds.   

Main accountabilities include:

Commercial and operational responsibilities

  • Evaluate procedures and processes making recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Deal correctly and appropriately with any disciplinary issues that may arise within your team or report to your immediate supervisor.
  • Ensure your team are wearing personal protective equipment at all times when working on the ramp and that they are operating in accordance with company policies and procedures with the tasks they are doing.
  • Provide full cooperation with other departments that you come in contact with during operations to ensure the common goal of turning round aircraft is met in an efficient, professional and safe manner.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-placement physical abilities test, hearing and vision tests

 

Functional Responsibilities

  • Delegate members of your team in the following duties: Marshalling aircraft to stand, coning and chocking, Positioning and connecting of GPU if required, positioning and operating other GSE as required, aircraft pushback procedures.  Any other duties given by your supervisor in adherence to Menzies Aviation global procedures and policies.  
  • Reporting all delays, incidents and accidents to your supervisor. 
  • Report any faults or irregularities with equipment, facilities or processes to your Supervisor.
  • Monitor and report any absenteeism within your team.
  • To sign and verify aircraft documents. i.e. Interpreting correctly, the Load Information Report (LIR) and to sign it if and when required
  • Assume the role as an On Site Demonstrator for your team assisting the training department in training of the operators in specific duties
  • This role includes responsibility for security of the aircraft and ERA under wing.  Security procedures adhere to company policies also airport regulations and procedures.
  • Carry out checks of the stand prior to aircraft arrival.
  • Any other reasonable request.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous airport ramp experience and knowledge is highly advantageous
  • Good organizational skill essential 
  • Must be able to speak English and write basic English.
  • Must be reliable and punctual with organizational skills.
  • Customer and safety focused.
  • Flexible and with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and situations quickly.
  • A National driving licence
