Safety &Security Officer will be responsible for monitoring the day-to-day operations of the organisation and report deviations from standards. Safety & Security Officer will be responsible in assisting with the implementation of safe & secure behavioural practices at all levels of the organisation and continually improve the safety culture and performance.

Main accountabilities include:

  • Responsible for implementation of Health, Safety & Environment standards at MASIL.
  • Assist Health, Safety & Environmental Manager and Security & Compliance Manager in achieving their responsibilities in respect of managing health, safety and security within their units.
  • Support Managers in undertaking the protective and preventative measures necessary to achieve compliance with safety & security legislation as it applies to them.
  • Co-ordinate the activity necessary to comply with corporate policy as it applies to them.
  • Report any breaches of statutory requirements or company best practice to the Business Unit Manager.
  • Undertake the training necessary to ensure proper understanding of their responsibilities and relevant corporate policy.
  • Supervise staff to ensure that they are working in a safe manner without risk to themselves or others.
  • Ensure the consistent reporting of all accidents, incidents or near misses to the Business Unit Manager.
  • All ground operations are supervised and controlled.
  • Operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements of customer airlines in addition to internal standards.

Commercial and operational responsibilities:

  • Assist with the development, implementation, and improvement of Safety & Security Management Systems, processes, and procedures to support business operations.
  • Assist with the communication of information on Safety & Security Management Systems throughout the organisation and promote Safety & Security awareness through various communication channels in consultation with all relevant departments.
  • Prepare Safety & Security documentation as per the requirements.
  • Undertake SMART inspections internally and with third parties (contractors) as per the approved MASIL inspection program as directed by HSE Manager and SC Manager.
  • Ensure SMART inspection numbers meet or exceed the target set within the Company.
  • Follow up on the preventive and / or corrective actions identified during the inspections and monitor the timely closing of the actions in coordination with other departments.
  • Assist in the development, facilitate and review of risk assessments for routine and non-routine activities.
  • Record Safety & Security key performance indicators monthly and issue reports as necessary. Suggest and advise changes to ensure continuous improvement on any additional effective KPIs to be added in the system as part of continual improvement.
  • Develops, implements, and encourages the behavioural based safety culture in the organization through safe job observations and top management inspections.
  • Perform weekly Workplace Inspections in MASIL facilities to check, record and promote a safe workplace.
  • Support other Safety & Security staff as and when required.
  • Actively participate in the incident investigations and prepare required reports in consultation with management.
  • Act as the Safety & Security representative as required by HSE Manager and SC Manager in MASIL and regulatory HSE meetings and committees.
  • Diligently perform any other reasonable work or related tasks at the request of the HSE Manager& SC Manager.

 

Functional responsibilities:

  • Work with all personnel to maintain, enhance and manage effective safety & security systems.
  • Ensure daily, weekly &monthly safety and security reports are generated and shared with relevant Manager.
  • Report any incident within the given timelines in consultation with the respective Manager.
  • Adhere to and encourage adherence to all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Maintain coordination and effective working relationships with IAW and MASIL teams.
  • Ensure proper record keeping.
  • Support the Station to achieve ISAGO accrued.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree holder in any field.
  • Fluent in written and spoken Arabic.
  • Good knowledge of written and spoken English is essential.
  • Minimum one-year work experience preferably in aviation sector or in Safety or Security.
  • Minimum requirement of intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite and applications.
  • Ability to create new reports and tools for use by employees and management.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships with external agencies, airlines and airport authorities.
  • Willing to complete the NEBOSH International General Certificate within 18 months of appointment.
