Role Purpose

The individual will be a key member of the Menzies central tax team working on the tax compliance for a multi-national group operating in 65 countries, reporting to the Head of Tax & Internal Audit under a fixed term contract for 12 months. This role will give the individual responsibility for preparing the group's transfer pricing documentation and country-by-country reporting, analysis of pillar 2 impacts, including pillar 2 planning and reporting, the year end calculation of current and deferred tax provisions, as well as reviewing tax accounting on a quarterly basis and posting adjustments. This role will also have opportunities to input into different tax aspects of wider business activities and growth opportunities.

 

This role can be based in either London or Edinburgh.

 

What you will be doing

  • Preparation of the group's transfer pricing documentation and compliance with country-by-country reporting requirements.
  • Analysis of pillar 2 impacts on the Menzies entities, as well as considering the interaction with the wider shareholder group. This will include modelling the expected pillar 2 impact, analysing different scenarios and potential outcomes, as well as monitoring compliance with local reporting and payment obligations.
  • Supporting with monitoring of tax governance, controls and procedures across the Menzies group.
  • Working alongside the UK Tax Adviser and the Group Tax Adviser to prepare the current and deferred tax provisions for the ultimate shareholder group's annual report. In addition, modelling of forecast tax accounting estimates and quarterly monitoring of current and deferred tax reporting.
  • Preparation of the group's tax forecasts on a regular basis and assisting with the tax aspects of financial reporting to our stakeholders.
  • Undertaking tax technical research and analysis as required. The group is on a growth trajectory and as part of the Group Tax team, there will be opportunities to support on tax aspects of projects and transactions across the globe.
  • As the Menzies group operates in 65 different countries throughout the world, the role offers the individual the chance to support on investments, other business transactions and ad hoc tax queries, and to develop knowledge and experience of international taxes.

What we are looking for

  • Experience at senior associate /assistant manager grade of supporting with corporate tax advisory work.
  • Tax accounting experience.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Qualified accountant and/or tax adviser.
  • Understanding of tax governance processes that impact a large multi-national group.
  • Experience in preparing, or advising on the preparation of, transfer pricing documentation and country-by-country reports.
  • Strong analytical skills, a problem-solving mindset, and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while leading cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
