Role Purpose

Responsible for overseeing an organisation's tax strategy, compliance, and reporting. Managing complex global regulatory shifts like Pillar II/GloBE that will have an impact to the company.

What you will be doing

  • Compliance & Reporting: Manage the preparation, review, and timely lodgement of corporate income tax returns, as well as indirect taxes such as GST, FBT and PAYG. Update and maintain the overall local tax policy and risk matrix.
  • Strategic Advisory: Advise senior leadership on the tax implications of business decisions, including mergers and acquisitions, local and international restructures, and asset disposals.
  • Tax Planning: Lead initiatives to legally minimise tax exposure and improve after-tax outcomes while ensuring alignment with broader business goals.
  • Audit Management: Act as the primary point of contact for tax authorities (e.g., the ATO or IRD) and manage tax audits, inquiries, and dispute resolutions.
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee tax effect accounting and prepare tax provisions for financial statements under ASB and Or IFRS standards.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor finance staff, fostering their professional development and ensuring high-performance standards.

What we are looking for

  • Experience with Big4 firm or tax advisory firm
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international tax legislation, transfer pricing frameworks, and tax governance controls.
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Economics is standard; a Master of Taxation or MBA is highly regarded
  • Professional qualifications such as CA (Chartered Accountant), CPA (Certified Public Accountant), or CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser)
