Overview

People. Passion. Pride. This is what has driven our teams since 1833.

Since that time, we have developed to become a critical partner in the global aviation industry, delivering time-critical logistics services at 350 locations in more than 65 countries, across six continents.

But at the heart of our business is our people.

Dispatchers are responsible for ensuring the Menzies Aviation product is delivered consistently in line with service level standards set for both on-time and station performance. This includes close liaison with Load Supervisors, Ramp Team Leaders, and other operational staff who are responsible for the maintenance of safe standards, oversee ground equipment and stand conditions, and safeguard both punctuality and safety. • Monitor stand conditions during inclement weather (e.g., ice or snow) taking appropriate action to ensure safe to use.
  • Ensure guidance systems are serviceable, or a marshaller is in place to guide the aircraft.
  • Ensure passenger steps are available, and that they have been confirmed as serviceable, and free from contamination with the ramp operatives / Lead Agent.
  • Once steps have been correctly deployed and only when safe, ensure liaison with the crew takes place for relevant information (e.g., origin on flight, domestic / international, PRMs, deportees) before authorising cabin crew to commence disembarkation.
  • To assist with passenger services and ensure safe movement to and from the aircraft.
  • To comply with all airlines' weight & balance documentation and load sheet regulations, and to convey loading instructions to ramp staff.
  • Ensure fuel is loaded and confirmed with the Captain and fuel provider.
  • Ensure security items, rush/unattended bags are loaded and documented correctly.
  • Present the load sheet with any final amendments to the Captain.
  • Ensure compliance with baggage reconciliation and “Triple A” requirements.
  • Understand and operate radio and PA equipment effectively.
  • Co-ordinate and record safe and timely delivery of all services to the aircraft at crew or engineer request, including catering, fuelling, engineering, cleaning, toilet/water servicing, crew transport, ramp agents and equipment, passenger special assistance, and de-icing.
  • Ensure punctuality is achieved without compromising any ramp safety procedures.
  • Provide timely movement messages (AA/ED/AD/NI/ED/PSM) to required outstations by SITA, including accurate delay analysis.
  • Supply weather/NOTAMS as requested to the Captain.
  • Agree departure times and delay codes with the Captain, recording agreed data on dispatch report card.

  • Mentor and coach other Dispatchers and, where required, step into Operations Allocator or Supervisor role.
  • Produce the three main functions of load control – weight and balance planning, loading instructions, and load sheet production using airline systems.
  • Maintain a tidy office environment and required stationery levels.
  • Report defective vehicles, photocopiers, or other office equipment.
  • Uphold uniform standards.
