Reporting to and working closely with SVP Group Risk and VP Group Safety Standards in order to develop and align strategic security objectives and associated policy and procedure. To work in close collaboration with the Regional Security teams on operational outputs and where required, tactical solutions. The post holder will be responsible for providing effective Security support, guidance and intelligence to the Network. Working closely with regional management and the VP’s for Security to ensure Regulatory Compliance and adoption of good practice in the management of security to protect our people, our assets and our customers.

The Menzies Aviation Security Management System (SeMS) is fundamental to the ongoing improvement of our security based performance, and the success of the company. The post holder will be required to drive its full implementation at all levels of the business and to encourage standardisation of good security practice and measured performance for continuous improvement.

Main Accountabilities Include:

  • Taking a lead on security related strategy, policy and standards for the Menzies Aviation Group
  • Establish strong partnerships with the Regional teams to support collaboration and effective implementation of agreed strategies to include but not limited to SeMS
  • Development of Threat or Risk based security procedures, standards and practices ensuring proportionality and the effective communication thereof for delivery by the business
  • Advising senior management on emerging security risk or change to risk profile within the network
  • Monitor compliance with national and international requirements and regulations via the regional structures and in association with the Internal Audit function
  • Liaison with regulatory authorities, trade bodies and customers as required
  • To advise on matters of training, recruitment, vetting in relation to aviation security
  • Establish KPI’s to measure / report on security performance
  • Providing an effective risk analysis and threat assessment including response capability
  • Monitor all systems and audits used for the monitoring of compliance and quality of security systems
  • Monitor the conduct of investigations into all matters that could impact on the operational security of the company
  • Perform sensitive investigations as may be required from time to time and provide oversight and guidance on regional investigations
  • Monitor output from professional intelligence organisations for potential impact on MA people, its operations or its customers
  • Oversee country evacuation planning and BCP in times of political unrest of security related threat
  • Provide management reports as directed for senior leadership briefing and information

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree or industry based equivalent in security, or related studies (aviation security qualification preferred)
  • Analytical in approach, with an ability to relay complex issues to a broad audience
  • Tran-Sec, Enforcement Agency or Aviation Security background with practical experience and knowledge of working within a regulated operation, or, experience working at a management level with security responsibility in the aviation industry
  • A good understanding of, or experience in, Emergency Response Planning, Contingency Planning and Business Continuity Planning
  • Self-motivated, disciplined with a flexible attitude to change
  • Hands-on, practical approach to providing solutions in a challenging and dynamic business environment, with good organisational skills
  • Prepared to travel internationally, sometimes at short notice
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people at all levels and across different geographical locations
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
  • Must be computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Packages e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Will have to undergo CRC and CTC vetting, failure to receive clearance will result in termination of employment
